Pontinha is the northern outside section of Ribeira d’Ilhas. A couple of times a year Pontinha is connected with Ribeira, but most of the time this is a wave on its own. Like Ribeira, Pontinha is a nice righthander, but it’s more difficult, faster and can have some sections to overcome. The take-off is next to a rocky ledge sticking out into the ocean.

This wave works best with more water, so mid to high tide is normally the best. Take care of the urchins and respect the locals!
