Just south of Peniche, but north of the famous surf spot Supertubos, is another quality wave called Molho Leste. This is a powerful right point break that can offer great barrels. It breaks off a jetty and is sheltered from the northern winds and swell. Thanks to its sandy bottom, Molhe Leste can be good for less experienced surfers on the small days. When bigger, it’s only for advanced surfers.
It needs an even bigger swell than Supertubos before it starts working. And if it works, you can expect some fierce (bodyboard) locals in the line-up. Without respect for the wave and the locals, you won’t have a chance!
