Praia das Moitas in Monte Estoril is a righthand point break breaking off a jetty in between Cascais and Estoril, close to the Monte Estoril train station. The wave usually is quite fat with multiple sections, but can be lots of fun when the conditions are right especially for boards with more volume. Since it’s not a world-class wave, it normally is less crowded than the other spots on the south coast of Lisbon such as Carcavelos.
This spot can handle big swells and most likely works when the west coast is maxed out. It’s a pretty good option if you’re looking for fun, less crowded and not very heavy right-handers. The best way to get in is jumping off the pear with higher tide, but make sure you time it right. Otherwise you can also just paddle. This spot works best with North (northeast) wind and with swells coming from west.
Please note that the best time to surf this stretch of coast is October to March. In the summer there are usually no waves!
