Foz do Sizandro is located 15 km north of Ericeira. It is the south end of a 1.5-km-long beach; the north end is called Praia Azul. Foz do Sizandro is a typical beach break with multiple peaks with both lefts and rights. There are more rocks towards both ends of the beach. The waves here are usually bigger than in Ericeira when the swell comes from northwest. With a west swell, it’s the other way around. With low tide, you can sometimes see the remaining of a small shipwreck on this side of the beach.
Foz do Sizandro is a good place to go if you want to escape the crowds and it works best between low and mid tide. It’s quite sensitive to wind and swell direction, so timing is key if you don’t want to be disappointed. There is a parking and a small cafĆ©.
